Sonia van Gilder Cooke Bio

Sonia van Gilder Cooke was born in London and raised in Italy and California. Her American mother, Amy Van Gilder, met her British father Colin Cooke while she was working as a puppet builder in the Jim Henson workshop during the production of The Muppet Show. Sonia attended Yale as an undergraduate and the University of Oxford for a Masters degree before settling in London. As a freelance journalist, Sonia van Gilder Cooke has written for the Times of London, Slate, the Financial Times, New Scientist, the Guardian and Prospect Magazine. From 2011-2013, Sonia van Gilder Cooke was a staff reporter for Time Magazine in its London bureau.
